Today I cooked Singing Hinnies. They are called Singing Hinnies because they sizzle and hum when put on the griddle and Hinny is a northern name for honey. They are very similar to Welsh cakes but without added sugar! (recipe http://www.britishfood.about.com)
The cakes were cooked on the griddle spread thinly with butter and honey and eaten by candlelight – fantastic!
